Berlin's radical off-the-grid art & architecture testbed
The Questionarch
The Questionarch is a unique initiative combining two dynamic spaces in Berlin: Fixotek and Videotek. These DIY spaces serve as alternative exhibition and project venues, dedicated to exploring themes of sustainability, public space, material reuse, and experimental urban concepts.

We’re trying to use the space for architecture, art, urban-living & design research and a test bed for installations, projects, films, other artworks etc. We don’t rent out the space for private parties unfortunately unless it funds/supports our mission/research work.

Shorts Under the Bridge
Screening & Discourse
Videotek Film Festival
“Shorts Under the Bridge” (SUB) is the first iteration of an experimental short film festival taking place at the Videotek. The Videotek strives to merge the worlds of architecture, performance, film and theater. The themes explored in this year’s ‘SUB’ will focus on daily struggles and life in cities, issues around urbanity and sustainability on global perspectives. SUB wants to lend our silver screen under the Görlitzer Brücke to local and emerging filmmakers, performers and artists to show their films, discuss current and future issues in Berlin and globally.
Feminist Short Films
Screening & Discourse
Videotek Film Festival
Based in Montréal / Tio'tia:ke, the Filministes Festival organizes screenings of cinematographic works followed by discussions on various contemporary feminist issues. We seek to increase visibility for films and filmmakers not usually represented in film festivals and create safe spaces for discussions and reflection on feminisms.
The Infopoint
XS-Architecture
Neighbourhood
The Infopoint was commissioned by the KungerKiezInitiative e.V. and acts as an interface between the public and the neighborhood initiative. It serves as an information point for events and activities as well as a place for passers-by to rest and meet. Through the principle of upcycling, two used IBC rainwater tanks were modified and converted into a solar-powered lighthouse with fold-out benches, shelves, pinboards and plants. The Infopoint can currently be found in the atrium of the Park Center Treptow.

Location Mapping
In 2022, the Questionarch has become an increasingly integral part of the neighborhood's urban landscape. Looking ahead, we plan to open up our railway arch to the broader community, transforming it into a unique "showroom" for public experiments. Our goal is to provide opportunities for young, less visible, disadvantaged, and underrepresented artists, designers, and performers. By doing so, we aim to promote and support them, creating a platform for emerging talents in the art scene.
Through these activities within the physical space of the arches, we offer a critical alternative for neglected urban areas and public spaces. We propose a new way to revitalize unused urban spaces by engaging the local community, unlocking the potential of these fascinating urban (negative) spaces that offer countless possibilities. Our reclaimed patch of urbanity has become a hub for critical thinking about urban environments and their socio-material contexts, utilizing this once-abandoned space as a catalyst for change rather than a wasteland.

Neighbourhood
In the summer 2022, we organized a series of workshops, a series of screenings, and a festive exhibition, all focusing on the theme of climate change and the reuse of materials from the neighborhood.
The Space
Situated under the arches of the old Görlitzer railroad bridge at the southern end of Görlitzer Park, our spaces are at the heart of a vibrant and multicultural area. Görlitzer Park reflects Berlin’s dynamic, autonomous, and anti-establishment character, often being the first to experience central changes in the city. Since 2009, the Görlitzer Fix-o-tek has been a living lab and experimental space for our collective. It functions as a lab, workshop, event venue, and storage space, where we develop and display our public space installations both in Berlin and beyond.
Videotek
It is an innovative exhibition space designed to showcase a series of films focusing on urbanism. This space offers creative perspectives on waste management and sustainability. Located in the arch of the Görlitzer Bridge, Vide-o-tek operates “off-the-grid” using solar generators and renewable energy sources. This space was constructed by the Questionarch Collective with funding and support from Draussenstadt Call for Action, Neustart Kultur, Akademie der Künste, Eco-flow, Prima-Klima, and Urbane Praxis.
Fixotek
It is a multifunctional project space and open workshop dedicated to promoting sustainability in our neighborhoods and city. It serves as a hub for innovative thinking on reusing spaces and materials. At Fix-o-tek, we explore how to reclaim materials from construction sites and demolitions, reintegrating them into the building materials cycle. This space is pivotal in fostering discussions and actions around sustainable urban development.
